Is it common for cats to have flaky white stuff in their fur after treating with flea medicine

I treated my cat with Advantage flea medicine on his neck/head area and it has been about 30-45 minutes and this flaky white stuff is in his fur in that spot now which looks like dandruff. He has itched the spot so its not something he did. Could it be a side effect? Have any of you used the Advantage for cats? How well does it work?

when ever I use it it looks wet, and it greasy afterwards. I would cheak the expire date,it sound like it's old or wasn't kept in a cool dry place. this stuff kills fleas on your cat in 12hours and keeps kill them for 30 days. did you put it on the back of their necks where they can't lick it off?

if he had these flakes before and on other area's of his body it's probably dandruff. Nutro is a good pet food that will get rid of that in a week or so.

I would call the vet and explain how you put it on, when it was bought and tell them about the flakes. keep the thing that it came in, it will have a code on it, that's the batch number, they might ask you to call the advantage people and tell them to, who knows there might of been a bad batch.
